Book #3

In the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen he describes how a 13 year old boy survives a plane
crash. Brian wants to see his dad in Canada for the summer. When he was going to Canada
his plane crashed in the Canadian forest. The next couple of days he finds shelter and food.
Later he makes a fire and he guards it with his life. He shot a bird, found turtle eggs, and
berries for his food. His shelter is a overhang. Brian is really successful later on. There was a
tornado so now he has to rebuild his shelter.  Then Brian has this image in his head about a
survival pack inside the plane. So, Brian builds a raft and floats to the plane. But it takes him
a little bit because he dropped his hatchet in the lake and that helps him rip the plane to get
the pack. Later when Brian opens the pack there was pots, pans, food, forks, knives, and a
transmitter that tracks planes that take off. So, Brian opens it like a flip phone and it called
another plane. The other plane crashes and a man steps out and says, “Damn. You’re him,
aren’t you? You’re that kid.” and, “I heard you’re emergency transmitter-then I saw the plane
when I came over.” That happened because Brian turned it on. Then Brain asked the man,
“Do you want something to eat?”
